This lovely little dogwood flower was cast from a hand carved block of oak that had been damaged.  After extensive reconstructive work, this replica is now ready to grace your door and window frames.  This iconic flower of the dogwood tree represents "love undiminished by adversity".  Since it is one of the first to bloom in spring, it also symbolizes rebirth and rejuvenation.  The cross-shaped petal formation lends itself to Christian legends.  The tree itself is native to the Middle East and has a hard, durable wood that was once prized for small tools, such as loom shuttles and screw turns.  The name dogwood is derived from "dagwood" (dagger).
